Although the lightest of the 4 elements, wind can also at times be the strongest. Ever present, ever in motion, air permeates all matter, shaping it, expanding it, and eroding it.
This piece was created during an ambitious 5-day journey into the heart of the rocky mountains. 14hrs of driving, 6hrs of paddling, and two snow flurries later, we arrived at the southern tip of a lake at the centre of what’s called the “Valley of the Gods”. One after the next, each peak revealed itself to us, demonstrating the might of wind as it pushed and pulled storms through the valley. This particular peak stood out to me, so I turn the canoe around to line up the composition. Here, we see the result of millions of years of erosion at the hands of wind, chipping away at some of our world’s strongest minerals.
