In the age of feudal Japan, there was a young courtesan, renowned not only for her rare beauty but for the gaze that seemed to pierce the very soul of any man. They said her eyes carried the fury of raging rivers, yet also the gentleness of cherry blossoms at dusk. Many warriors, lords, and monks sought her, not for her flesh, but for the mystery hidden within her eyes.

One night, after being betrayed by a samurai lover who had sworn to protect her, the young woman vanished. All that remained was her Noh mask, found lying at the foot of a crimson torii. It was then that the whispers began: she had been consumed by envy and sorrow, transformed into a Hannya.

Those who dared to meet her along the moonlit paths claimed to see her face concealed beneath the demon’s mask. But it was not the mask itself that terrified them — it was the abyss behind her eyes. There, all sins and unspoken desires of those who gazed upon her were reflected back. Brave warriors fell without a single blow, swallowed silently by the infinite void that revealed their own ghosts.

Over time, the legend grew that she did not seek vengeance, but companionship. For within the abyss of her eyes, there was space for all who carried invisible scars… a shadowed realm where pain and desire would never fade.
