Description

One of the most stunning landmarks of the Western United States, Bryce Canyon enthralls with its innumerable hoodoos that seem to take on a life of their own. Originally settled by the Mormon pioneer Ebenezer Bryce in 1875, and popularized after the introduction of the Union Pacific railroad in the early 1900s, its is on most travelers bucket lists.

My goal in this photograph was to obtain a sharp and ultra high-resolution image that would capture the detail and glory of the grand vista in classic black and white format. The dark clouds and gathering storm on the horizon add to the drama of the moment. As for Old Ebenezer Bryce, when asked about his namesake canyon, he is reported to have famously replied that it “was a helluva place to lose a cow”.
