In February-March 2022, the first months of Russia-Ukraine full-scale war, the bridge in Romanivka served as the only escape route for the residents of towns north-west of Kyiv toward the capital's train station and then to the safer west part of the country. The humanitarian corridor was constantly being disrupted by Russian troops shooting. Since there was no possibility to arrange a safe evacuation, people had to remain in the bomb shelters with no cell service, gas or water. During the Russian occupation of these towns at least 200 civilians have died.
This piece is dedicated to those who weren't able to cross the bridge.
