'TIME TRAVEL FOR DUMMIES' is a collection of 12 unique pieces inspired by Clifford Simak's book 'Time is the simplest thing' (published 1961) where a telepath accidentally acquires a powerful alien consciousness and must run to escape corporate assassins and angry mobs.
The artworks were initially created physically via methods of abstract expressionism. Materials used: latex, spray paint, cardboard, newspaper, plastic bags, industrial mesh. Then, the scanned artworks were given a generative digital treatment to present a fine pixelated effect visible when an artwork is viewed in detail.
The sharp contrasting colours of the artworks and the chaotic merge and splurge of shapes express the struggle within each human between spectrally dualistic emotions and thoughts. They live within the human experience at any given moment and form our perception of time. Each of these moments is defined by our ability to experience it, hence they can pass us by frantically or feel as if time is standing still. Herein lies the simple secret of time - if one's able to understand one's own subjective experience and embody it fully, time would become a recourse rather than a limitation.
