Description

'Livin' Large in the Afterlife' is my interpretation of the 'Camp' style immortalized in Susan Sontag's 1964 essay 'Camp.' The nostalgia from the 1990s hits younger generations who didn't live during the 1990s and now wear the clothes from my teenage years.

Inspiration for this painting came from my desire to always own this specific Starter Jacket from the now-defunct NBA team, the Charlotte Hornets. The colorways, coupled with the massive JNCOs, remind me of the shitty clothes we wore then as pure style, and now that younger generations wear similarly styled clothing from the 90s.

From the iconic coffee paper cup we still see today to the JNCOs (directly inspired by Die With The Most Likes @toadswiback) that make bell bottoms from the 60s look like skinny jeans; this decade was full of bright colors and 'radical' feelings.
