This short film is the main work from the series “The Patient” (2021).

This series was made as an opposition to a statement made by Alibaba CEO Jack Ma in 2019, who advocated that 996 is a blessing. 996 is an increasingly common practice in the Chinese tech industry, where employees are required to work from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, 6 days a week. Critics have called it "modern slavery”. This series is reflecting on the role of a modern work environment and how it impacts our life. The series uses ironic visuals to depict imagined morbid scenarios unfolding itself in what could appear as a normal workplace. The main goal of this series is to allow people to sit down and think whether our life really exist only for work, and how we can live more like a person than a machine.
