The Meta Tether NFT project transcends its original form, inviting viewers into a profound exploration of the human experience, the grieving process, the understanding of history, and the profound interplay between the natural laws governing our world. Through a lens of emotional documentary vantage point, this conceptual artwork delves into the depths of human existence, encompassing a wide range of emotions.
At its core, the Meta Tether NFT project is a digital remix of the original Tether series, an artistic endeavor that emerged from a deeply personal journey. My partner and I embarked on a life-changing odyssey on the eve of the closing of the Canadian/US border during the COVID-19 pandemic. This momentous event provided me with ample time for introspection, prompting a newfound curiosity about the universe, philosophy, psychology, language, mathematics, physics, and the intricate web of interconnected disciplines that shape our perception of reality.
In my contemplative state, I discovered the beauty in the order and structure that had previously eluded my awareness. Where chaos and disorder reigned in the external world, I crafted my own universe—a universe imbued with authenticity, emotional resonance, and intellectual inquiry. This artwork serves as a diary, capturing my stream of consciousness on various days, intertwining social, political, and economic commentaries with my emotional states and random thoughts.
Years of introspection and personal reflection led me to the creation of the Tether series, a culmination of my deep exploration into the human condition. Each image within the series represents a poignant memory, a fleeting moment in time that contributes to the rich tapestry of our lives. The Tether series is a testament to the subjective journey we all embark upon, filled with love, loss, and the intricate nuances that make us simultaneously unique and connected. It is a journey that intertwines memories, nostalgia, logic, language, and poetry, all viewed through the lens of conceptual art, color theory, and minimalism.
As one gazes upon the images arranged in various arrays, patterns gradually emerge, akin to quantum ripples resonating as syntax crystals. These patterns undulate like waves of color, serving as quantum signals transmitted through space and time. My pursuit of understanding fundamental truths and expressing them in visually captivating ways manifests in the carefully selected examples and experiments showcased in the artwork. The background gradients, sequenced with 12 distinct colors and 9 intensity levels, create an algorithmically mesmerizing interplay of light and darkness, symbolizing the dance between order and chaos, pretentiousness and absurdity.
Beyond its aesthetic allure, the Tether series serves as a poignant connection to my deceased father, with whom I communicated through wordplay in life. In death, I seek to establish a link, an ethereal dialogue through the intricate algorithmic structures embedded within the artwork. The complex trinary code, composed of white, color, and black dots, forms a time-lapsed syncopation that acts as a conduit for sending information into the realm of memory and connection. Through this art form, I maintain a dialogue with my father, offering daily tributes in the hopes of evoking his presence, hearing his laughter, or receiving a witty comment.
The Tether series is a testament to the fragility and ephemerality of time, a reminder of the fleeting nature of our existence and relationships. Each image posted daily on Social Media for 500 consecutive days represents a day without my father and a day further removed from the possibility of direct communication. The linear connection of these images forms a conceptual rope, a tether that stretches longer with each passing day, symbolizing the profound impact of loss and the inexorable passage of time.
This artwork transcends mere visual representation.
