The entire narrative of suffering transforms, when I detach myself from my ego. I realize that when I say “I am in pain, I am suffering” I contribute to the idea of myself as being an individual whom the pain is being inflicted upon. When I don’t identify with the ego, all of the suffering becomes less personal.
As the ego dissolves, the constructs begin to dissolve as well. The questions begin to arise – “What warrants suffering? What part of me is suffering? How is suffering different from bliss?” I find myself viewing suffering from outside the lens of emotions and society – it simply just becomes another sensation. In a state of "egolessness"– pleasure, pain, love, hate, desire, lust, etc., all becomes another wave in the ocean of experience, rising and falling, in and out of the present moment.
