A field of coloured cubes flex in space, their forms casting light into the void, as the camera rotates around them.

I was experimenting with OpenGL geometry shaders and figuring out how to project shadows from a point in space using arbitrary geometry. The yellow line shows the light origin and direction. To make sure the volumes were being drawn properly, I drew them with alpha, creating this very pleasing undulating field of overlapping light beams.

I don't know if I have this code anymore, and I never recorded a video of it, unfortunately. I come across this image from time to time, and I still like it.

While this artwork never saw the light of day in this form, the field of cubes idea ended up being used for a video sculpture that I exhibited at Kinetica Art Fair at P3 in London in 2013.
