The hand and the tambourine
In a short breack to rest my hands, i registred this rich detail the hand holds its instrument that mesmerizes any love of the zabumba acent.
The Boi de Zabumba has its origins in the town of Guimarães, in the lowlands of Maranhão. The zabumba accent has the uniqueness of keeping the original technical knowledge, such as the comedy, the characters, the touch, the songs and the dances, besides the traditional clothing, velvet clothes, hats with ribbons and embroidered skirts.
It is played with rustic zabumbas (handmade from mangrove wood harvested at the right time, with an appropriate moon), plucked on a string. The tambourines are made of jenipap and covered with leather. The clothes have a wealth of details embroidered in beads and canutils. This Boi, in particular, has a unique way of playing and tuning the instruments.
The zabumba accent is characterized by the presence of the zabumbas themselves, in addition to other percussion instruments: tambor-de-fogo, tamborinho or pandeirinho, tambor-onça, maracas and whistles. They provide the sound of the strong rhythm.
