Created by Anthony Sylvester, "The Alaskan Empire" is a series rooted in a deliberate act of witness. Sylvester traveled into the Alaskan frontier on an anthropological journey — not as a tourist, but as a documentarian with a question: how far have we already encroached upon what we once called untouchable? The journey was undertaken to see firsthand where nature stands in its ongoing struggle to exist peacefully alongside humanity, and to create a record for both present and future audiences of what remains, what is threatened, and whether that coexistence is even possible.
