These characters were originally created by Mr.Brian Design in 2011 while teaching Japanese kindergarten kids English. The Tanuki-Bird character came about while drawing and coloring with his young students. It's a continuation of a collaborative series with kindergarten kids, called 'That's Weird' where various animals are combined to create new creatures. Tanuki Bird (Tanuki Tori) was one of the first characters in the series.

The Tanuki-Birds are a rare hybrid species of bird and tanuki. Tanuki are a lucky spirit animal in Japan, know to attract wealth and abundance. These mystical creatures come from an unknown realm of time and space. These creatures are nomad foragers known to have a fondness for noodles, canned coffee, and junkfood.
