Description

I had once found a time machine and used it to travel a few centuries into the future. By then human beings had gone extinct. This I was not expecting, and I stood there dumbfounded.

A little while later I recalled that I was in the process of building a monument. It was in the form of a huge skull, to celebrate how far humans had evolved to be the top species on this planet.

I reached the place designated for its installation and found it there. It was now covered with grass and flowers, slowly decaying.

There I realized how all things we build only exist if we constantly protect them. The very instant we stop, nature finds a way to assimilate, reclaim what it owns, to bring back the balance we destroy.

It was quite a bit to process but I knew one thing, we were not as important as we thought. We exist only if we stay humble to nature. There I decided to go back and stop building the monument, and that is why you don't see it now.
