Description

Early computer art was photographic in nature. Artists would render their images on a screen and impress them on film. The "synthetic photography" series flips the relationship between photography and code, using programming to generate a photographic simulacrum. The result highlights the lineage that computer art found in early abstraction and expressionism.

Raphaël de Courville is a generative artist, streamer, and educator. His artistic work is an exploration of generative systems, patterns, interactivity, and time. Born in Paris, he lives and works in Berlin.
