The Andes range is a vast mountain range formed by a continuous system of mountains along the western coast of South America. The range is approximately eight thousand miles long. It is the longest mountain range in the world (in length).

Due to the extension towards the meridians, the Andes include different climatic zones. The climate (semi-arid) of the area varies constantly, as does its vegetation. Cold weather is prevalent, with high-altitude blizzards being very common.
