Description
First image of a black hole never taken.
Kip Thorne, Nobel Prize in Physics in 2017, collaborated with the Interstellar movie team so that it was as faithful to the science as possible.
As Kip Thorne explains in his book The Science of Interstellar, "Black holes do not emit light, so the only way to see Gargantúa is because of the influence of the light of other objects." The black hole "emits a black shadow in the stars field and also diverts the rays of light from each star, distorting the stellar pattern that captures the camera."
