The story goes like this:

Warhol is having a party at the factory (his studio) with all the cool people. This lady ( a performance artist) sees a bunch of paintings stacked against the wall and says: Wow! Super dope your stuff Andy! Do you mind if I shoot it? Warhol, thinking she's going to take a picture, replies: Sure, Babe! Go for it! She removes her gauntlet, pulls a revolver then shoots the paintings right in Marilyn's Canvas damaging all four. The fifth canvas was not in the stack. Warhol screams: Get the hell out of here, you nutso! And so became the most famous artwork of Andy Warhol: The shot Marilyns.

Fast forward to 2019, another performance artist eats a banana taped on a wall worth $120,000. Seemed crazy at the time? Jpegs of Monkeys are now selling for millions.
