Bleeding Commodity
This artwork of a banana duct-taped to a blue wall, with red splashes around it, is a thought-provoking look at how we assign value to things in society.
The banana represents something simple and ordinary, like basic needs or everyday items. By taping it to the wall, I'm trying to highlight how society can take something normal and turn it into something expensive or important for no real reason.
The blue wall stands for big businesses or systems that often make everything look clean and perfect, while the red splashes symbolize the hidden struggles behind the scenes like the hard work, pain, or harm that goes into making things for profit.
Together, this piece asks us to think about what we value, why we value it, and the unseen cost of things we consume. It’s a reminder to look beyond appearances and question the systems that shape our world.
