Sunflowers are the national flower of Ukraine. In February 2022, when Russia invaded Ukraine, a Ukrainian women confronted an armed Russian soldier in Henychesk, offering him sunflower seeds to place in his pockets, so that flowers would grow if he died there on Ukraine’s soil.

The determination of the Ukrainian people to resist the Russian invasion has inspired me to create this collection. Sunflowers are a strong and resilient flower, just as the Ukrainian people have proven themselves to be.
