Seattle is my hometown, its where I was born and raised, my family is there and so are my ghosts. On my last trip, winter 2019, I brought my Nikon FM2 and wandered the streets, reconnecting with the city and my past through film. In 2018, I started to work with film so when I arrived in Seattle, working with film was fairly new to me and it was the first time I documented the city in this way. Part of my process is a need to be alone, observe and feel the energy from my surroundings. This is especially true when I return home after such long absences away and the ghosts from my past feel alive again as memories I had forgotten surface and linger. With film I noticed my process slowed further and I discovered a new appreciation and acceptance for the city I once called home.
