Saudade, It’s an semi documentary project that I do sparked by a curiosity on how manmade infrastructure could affect the live of the people living in that area. This project is focused on one small area under the flyover Pasupati bridge, in Bandung, Indonesia. The development of the city forced some people there to live under a huge bridge, dark and sometime losing access to see the open sky. I want to document how the change forced them to change their way of living, routines, and even moods.
When doing this project, I am not trying to be objective and investigative at all. I simply just be there and record anything from the unusual to the mundane. I want to see how they rush their Monday or spend their Sunday relaxing, how the children play and the adults lived their life, especially how living under the bridge affect their lives. Sometimes I see them smiling, but mostly they look pretty grim. Maybe I am looking for grim looking people, but I know something for sure that it felt dark being there.
PS: This is part of the work I took before the "Perception Shift "series. In "Perception Shift" I started to talk to people living there. It changed my perception completely.
