In today's Venezuela there is a growing disparity between the different socio-economic classes and the contrasting financial realities faced by the "nouveau riche", military personnel and the so-called "boliburgueses", as opposed to the impoverished population struggling to get by.
Venezuela is grappling with a severe economic crisis, characterized by hyperinflation, dwindling foreign currency reserves, and a deepening recession. The country's reliance on oil exports and a history of mismanagement have exacerbated these issues, leading to a wide range of socioeconomic consequences.
One striking manifestation of this crisis is the stark contrast between the economic positions of the newly wealthy, often associated with the corrupt practices of the boliburgueses, military personnel, and those connected to the ruling regime, and the vast majority of the population, who earn income in bolivars and struggle to make ends meet.
The privileged few have been able to amass significant wealth by taking advantage of their access to foreign currency, particularly US dollars. This currency manipulation enables them to engage in profitable business ventures, import goods, and enjoy a higher standard of living. Meanwhile, ordinary citizens, mainly relying on the bolivar, are hit hard by hyperinflation, which erodes their purchasing power and undermines their ability to afford even basic necessities.
This stark dichotomy in wealth distribution has led to a deeply divided society, with the gap between the haves and the have-nots widening. The consequences are manifold, as the less privileged struggle with limited access to quality healthcare, education, and adequate nutrition, while facing increased poverty and unemployment rates.
Addressing these economic disparities and fostering a more equitable society in Venezuela will require comprehensive reforms that prioritize social welfare, promote responsible economic management, and combat corruption. Only through such measures can we hope to alleviate the suffering of the underprivileged and create a more inclusive and prosperous Venezuela.
Thank you for your attention to this matter I believe it is crucial to bring awareness to the challenges faced by the Venezuelan population and foster understanding of the complex economic realities at play.
For different reasons in 2010 I had to leave Venezuela. Thanks to artificial intelligence and photographic technical parameters I try to represent the reality that is lived in my country nowadays.
