Description
Hapsa Khan was an early Kurdish feminist and nationalist leader who founded Kurdistan's first women's school. The organisation was called the Kurdish Women's Association. She was born in 1891 in Sulaymaniyah to a prominent Kurdish family.
Painted in pastel hues, I wanted to celebrate the feminity in her character. She is a prime example of how leadership, education and preserving identity and culture add to a woman's feminity and do not take from it.
Hand-painted with wax and dyes. Digitally edited and enhanced. 400 dpi
