This is the first in a series of CGI artworks based on my real world series 'Post-Medium Painting'

My ‘Post-Medium Painting’ series explores how far an artist can get from ‘Painting’ in the traditional sense, while still referencing it and retaining its essence.

Through art history there have been many attempts at proposing the statement ‘Painting is dead’. Yet time and time again Painting has metamorphosed, innovated and been reborn.

In my paintings there is no canvas, there is no paint, however there are familiar mechanisms. By isolating and utilising Painting’s signifiers, e.g. a paint splat, the artist’s gesture and/or canvas frame stretcher I create paintings about Painting, where each combination becomes the archetype of a Painting and in so doing I attempt to continue Painting’s resuscitation.

This idea is then pushed further by recreating these real world pieces in CGI and placing them within the avant-garde NFT metaverse, continuing the evolution of Painting as a medium.
