The comic artist and illustrator Riccardo Rinaldi (1945–2006) migrated from Milan to Munich at the age of 19, enticed by the high demand for comic artists and illustrators in post-war Germany. The creative class was notably scarce due to persecution and emigration during that period. Rinaldi seamlessly integrated into the vibrant, unconventional artistic scene of Schwabing.

A pivotal figure in this artistic milieu was Marianne Sägebrecht, an iconic Bavarian actress and the driving force behind "Opera Curiosa." This satirical cabaret theater revue ran from 1977 to 1981 at various theaters in Munich.

While the precise sequence of events is not fully documented, Rinaldi was at least engaged in designing the poster for the 1979 season.
