This NFT documents the release of local author Jerry L. Lane's children's book illustrated using #Ai technology. Nora Blue’s story shows how through one cat’s calamity and adventure, she finds a new respect for her life, and most importantly rekindling love with her family.
The illustrations were completed over 3 creative sessions throughout the month of September, 2022 between Jerry L. Lane, Robert Matheson and midjourney Ai.
Artist Statement by Robert Matheson, Founder of the NFT Museum of Newberry, SC:
Collaboration is powerful both among people and with technology. After discussing my experiments with Ai, author Jerry L. Lane explained that he had written a story about a small child and her cat, Nora Blue. Could this story be illustrated using Artificial Intelligence? We set out to explore the possibilities. After a few creative sessions the story began to come alive. As our discussions grew deeper, we explored the concepts of family bonds, connectedness with nature, emotions of hope, love and loss. We directed the Ai to imagine these concepts through the eyes of Nora Blue. We were able to tap into a state of wonder, similar to what a child must feel when discovering building blocks for the first time. There is fear, uncertainty and doubt surrounding the use of Ai technology, but in our experience there is also wonder, opportunity and hope. These technologies will bring to life stories untold. We are privileged to live in a time of great discovery. This is our first collaborative exploration of this new age of digital storytelling using Ai. What might you create?
