This is my original painting of a portrait of Charles Darwin, which I painted in 2017 with watercolor. 🎨Charles Robert Darwin (February 12, 1809 – April 19, 1882) was an English naturalist, geologist, and biologist who is widely known for his contributions to evolutionary biology. He proposed the theory that all species of living things have a common ancestor. Today, this theory is accepted among scientists and is considered one of the fundamental concepts of biology. Darwin, along with Alfred Russel Wallace, proposed his theory that this evolutionary descent was the result of a process called natural selection, in which the struggle for survival has an effect similar to artificial selection in selective breeding. Darwin has been described as one of the most influential figures in human history and was honored with a burial in Westminster Abbey after his death.
