It is said that a very long time ago, over the swamp used to stand a bamboo palace built on stilts belonged to a despotic and arrogant prince with rabbit body.
Morondangui mythology says that this prince was a being whose vanity knew no bounds and who believed neither in poverty nor in misfortune.
One day while wandering through the marshy grounds surrounding his palace, the Rabbit Prince fell into a hole. But since he didn’t believe in the action of "falling", as it seemed to him something only for poor souls destined to failure, he remained floating, in an eternal suspension inside the hole, as in his own cero-gravity dimension.
This is how Morondanga people explain today the dense bubbles that float on the black waters of the swamp. Bubbles that never burst, never fall, never dissolve, never rise. They call them the "Prince Rabbit Bubbles" or simply "Vanity Bubbles".
The area of the swamp where the hole was supposed to be located is called "The Vanity Zone", which is precisely the favorite mating area of the magnolia frog, therefore, one of the areas where psychedelia takes place every fifth full moon of the year in the event called "The Night of the Frogs".
