‘Yantra 5’ is part of a sub series of Yantras and Mandalas, that fit into my wider concept of MokshaShots (please see collection description).

Traditional Yantras were ancient Indian cosmograms. They were used as energy engineering devices, to balance and harmonise energies of the body and the environment. I create what I call ‘Pop Yantras’, which is my humorous take on the symbols and emblems contemporary urban cultures use to manipulate our mental and environmental spaces.

These are icons we recognise from daily use and ones that we contemplate on. They occupy the urban mindspace.

I wanted to create holistic images, ones that involved both the intuitive and analytical sides of the mind. And I distinguish Mind from brain becos the Mind is the repository of thoughts, memories, spirit and energy. I created this as a contemporary cosmogram. I believe the animation makes it engaging on an added dimension, that of time.
