The Maltese Cross, also known as the Cross of the Knights Hospitaller, consisting of four concave quadrilaterals in the shape of a "V" or arrowhead converging on a central apex at right angles, two points pointing outward symmetrically.

It is a variant of the heraldic cross that developed from earlier forms of eight-pointed crosses in the 16th century.
