Raga is our debut album, released in 2013. Recorded at Resonate Studios, Burbank, CA.

In 2011, some of us attended a recital at the University of Texas at San Antonio, where we witnessed K. Sridhar (one of Ravi Shankar's earliest students) perform a long piece on an instrument called a sarod, which is similar to a sitar. Sridhar referred to his piece, which was mostly improvised, as a 'Raga' -- a traditional Indian approach to improvising on various scales and modes, such that the feel and progression of the music mimics the changing of the seasons, where one thing seamlessly flows into another.

That particular performance and introduction to the Raga was especially influential on us at that time, in part because it came along at a time when some of us were also studying the philosophy of Arthur Schopenhauer and the ancient Vedic tradition. To say the least, this was a true 'East-meets-West' experience for us on many different levels. Thus, what came about as our own Raga was itself a meeting of East and West, combining our heavy rock roots with the traditional Indian style.
