Description
Ezo squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris orientis) in Hokkaido, Japan. This is a rare shot of a "normal brown or gray individual" and an "albino, pure white individual" passing each other. The background is also composed of the opposite color of each, resulting in a beautiful shot.
Albinos are individuals that are congenitally incapable of producing melanin pigment in their eyes, skin, hair, and other parts of their bodies, or only in their eyes. The lack of melanin causes the body hair and skin to be white and the iris to be pale blue, gray, or purple. Albinos do not live long, making them valuable photographs.
