studio 151 aka ichi go ichi

i'm deciding to start here because this is the single best thing to happen to NYC since i was introduced to what real sushi is. all these restaurants offering $300+ omakase, for what? what makes your meal worth almost a quarter of my rent?! ever since visiting japan my mind has been opened up to what quality fish actually is. new york really doesn't have it for under $80, but i don't mean an $80 bill of rolls. it is absurd that studio 151 lives on that threshold, making it the literal deal of the century.. for now. master sensei kamui creates an addiction within you after just the first of 12 plates. not to mention the immaculate vibe of a massive loft, speakeasy, + jazz lounge all in one. good luck getting a reservation for the sushi bar though, might have to plan ahead a bit :P

by the way, this is a mouthwatering piece of seared toro + caviar. part of the omakase offering available at the chef's counter.
