"IN THE SHALLOWS" refers to the part of a body of water that's closest to the shore. I found the title fitting as this series of images were the first I made when starting out as a photographer. They represent the beginning; getting your feet wet. A transition. As human bodies of water, these images are the liminal space between who we're becoming, where we're going, and the waves we create as we grow and interact with other human bodies of water. The shallows are just the first few steps into a vast ocean of becoming.
