Description
2nd photo of my Great Whites series of 8 (False Bay, South Africa, 2008)
Three trips of 10 days each and out in the ocean for almost 12 hours per day is what it took to bring these eight photos to life. Photographing sharks is not a task for the impatient. It takes much more than a camera to take photos of these ancient predators.
After a disappointing and long day at sea without any interesting photo opportunities, the captain decided to give it one more shot at a decoy run, and his intuition gave me this majestic shot of a big shark as he was breaching the surface of the deep blue waters of False Bay.
Photographed using: Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III – lens at 105mm – 1/1300 – f13 – ISO 640
