Seeds and Ashes, the third issue in theVERSEverse’s GenText series, is a collaboration between Kalen Iwamoto, Rose Jackson and Sudowrite.

Each poem in the series was written by Sudowrite using inputs following specific rules.

To generate a poem, Sudowrite requires at least two inputs — a title and a seed line. Inspired by Rose Jackson’s images, Kalen Iwamoto used “ashes” as the title prompt for each poem in the series. The “seed line” prompt, different for each poem, was selected from a list of BIP39 seed recovery phrase words, using the following rule: the seed word must contain, in consecutive order, one letter from among the 12 letters in each artists’ names: “Kalen Iwamoto” and “Rosie Jackson” (Jackson’s nickname).

“slow”, the third input and the title of the third poem in the series, is a seed recovery word that includes the third letter of both artists’ names (S and L).
