In the Middle Ages, the word of mouth of the sailors who touched port was already circulating, and before each voyage on the seas, they entrusted themselves to the invocation of the Virgin Stella Maris. Mary (Myriam) meant "star of the sea" and in Latin "Stella Maris", which is why she began to be called the star of sailors by all the sailors of the time. The image of Stella Maris is enthroned in all the ships and land destinations of the Argentine Navy and also of the Naval Prefecture and the Merchant Navy.

Durante la Edad Media, ya circulaba por el boca a boca de los navegantes que tocaban puerto y que se encomendaban antes de cada viaje por los mares a la advocación de la Virgen Stella Maris. María (Myriam) significaba “estrella del mar” y en latín “Stella Maris”, por eso fue empezada a ser nombrada como estrella de los navegantes por todos los marinos de la época. La imagen de Stella Maris está entronizada en todos los buques y destinos en tierra de la Armada Argentina y también de la Prefectura Naval y la Marina Mercante.
