Grey was the lake

With frozen shards of snow

Grey was the sky

Where the clouds seem to grow

Grey was her little boat

Which her tender hands were rowing

Grey were her clothes

that daily she was wearing

Grey was all she saw

Grey was all she felt

Grey was her night and

Grey was her day

With everything grey she forgot how to laugh

The only thing that wasn’t grey,

Was her little red scarf......
