In Everynights: THE FIRST 500 DAYS, Wagenkencht attempts to create an aesthetic whole. Organized in loose chronological order from day 1 to 500, Wagnknecht reveals abstract, fantastical and conceptual forms of structure and abstraction in the collection. Each work was created while Wagenknecht was falling asleep with her hand on her phone or tablets pen. In this transit state the artist works with the unpredictability of the creative output and the unknown. The work represents a departure from traditional artistic techniques and serves as a study of the pervasive belief that we must optimize every aspect of our lives into something productive, including sleep and rest.
