This is an image I have often dreamed of capturing in the beautiful landscapes of Utah.
I was at the start of my last trip for Monsoon chasing, and the forecast showed some potential for storms over a very iconic place in Utah; Moab.
After spending the afternoon scouting places, I found this spot just outside the Canyonlands that immediately caught my eye. Around 4pm local time, storms began to form over the higher terrain, and I knew it was about to go time. I had my camera pointed at this specific area as I liked the opening in the rocks below that was like a window to the remarkable rocks behind.
After scoring some bolts as the storm was moving over, this bolt kind of unexpectedly slammed out ahead of the storm system striking PERFECTLY in the rock opening. I immediately jumped up to check the camera, praying and wishing I had caught it. I began cheering with excitement and happiness when I saw it on the back of the camera.
It Happened!!!! I got the shot!
