Description

Generative tools are evolving really fast, aiming at more realistic outputs. Concomitantly, we can see a lot of reluctancy toward AI Art - categorized in "not real Art". Therefore one can wonder what's the purpose of making tools that imitate reality and what "real Art" is. Looking back in Art History, Art was a way to document and reproduce reality. Not that long ago - only 2 centuries - Impressionism broke the academic rules in classical painting and opened the door for subjectivity. But it didn't make it less real.

The notion of reality is at the center of the conversation here. Especially because one of the biggest fear coming with AI is the propagation of Deep Fake. Besides, the more AI tools evolve, the more we can observe an alignment with a certain normativity. But, what if AI were also suffering from dysmorphophobia? Where did the 6 fingers creatures and glitched faces go in the "improvement" of algorithms? How important this is to preserve the right for "creative incidents"?
