There are always two sides to a coin. Everything is dual. Man and Woman. Love and forgiveness ugly and beautiful. Hero and Villain. Lightness and Darkness. Good and Evil. Black and White. Yes, the two sides of a coin. The Yin and Yang. The sunny and shady side of a stream; the yang is the sunny side, and the yin is the shady side. We typically live in a world of duality: good and evil, true and untrue, but mythology shows us that there’s an underlying union between the polarities, a Yin and Yang where there is always some good in bad and vice versa. There is no black and white. This is what I love about myths—they show us how things really are. The mythological stories don't paint a perfect picture; they show us the grey areas of life and those areas which have two different aspects to them. They show us the true nature of the universe. I like this concept because it gives me hope for humanity's future. It tells me that we as people can change, we can transcend our limitations and evolve into better beings if we stay open-minded enough.
