Around 1993 I started to VJ, doing visuals at parties. The first big one was in London, where I lived at the time, Vj'n and mixing visuals together with a local 3D artist named David Skipper. The animations I was making; (back then on Amiga's) were rather big, and they would cost several++ floppies if I wanted to make a backup. So I thought, if I program the animations; and make them interactive. I could scratch with the image, like a dj would scratch with the sound. And then programmed my first interactive drawing-vj-tool called 'zabber-verf'. (back then; on an Amiga written in C)
And I learned, if you make fast moving animations, it seems like; they react to the sound. I love fast construction and de-construction of an image. For these sketches; I want to play around like a digital Jackson Pollock, give me some dancing drips and digital paint bombs!
Best enjoyed with some nice sounds in the background!
