Ever since I was 13, I have had a slew of health issues; from chronic pain, to insomnia, anxiety and depression. For years I endured my mental health battles in silence, despite years of attending therapy because I couldn’t open up. I went on through my high school years dealing with these battles of my mind and body.
My senior year, I needed an art credit. I saw Photography 1 was an option so I decided to take it. The class was based around film, and I knew my dad had his Minolta from the 80’s covered in dust somewhere around the house. I had never thought of myself as an artist, let alone artistic at all. This class gave me a reason to create.
Welcome to my Genesis into photography. These 30 images take you on a journey through my mind during my darkest hour.
