Description

A jawless skull is crowned with an hourglass letting go of its last seconds. The hourglass tips and rights itself, its snaking movements emulate the serpent below. The silent skull’s contorted face pulls into and out of registration and is mounted on a knotted serpent, who hisses and twists, with a head pierced by religion. An aqueous Latin text crescendos and decrescendos, imitating musical notation and suggests speaking in tongues. The skull is the overt signifier of death however the foxing on the deteriorating paper is the inapparent momento mori.
