“Dialogue with Cryptopunk 7940” presents Dan Polko’s renowned Cryptopunk avatar in the context of Layla Pizarro’s abstract digital paintings, watercolor and cyanotype photograms. Layla used early GAN AI techniques with the Cryptopunk over white and blue backgrounds and over 1000 of her own work to train the GAN to create this output. The AI process blends the punk and artworks together, presenting a mesmerizing dance between an artist and an avatar, with the Punk dynamically revealing itself to the viewer at the mercy of the AI algorithm.
