I reference cowboys a lot in my work, to me they are a symbol of hyper masculinity - I title these pieces "I am not my Father". In these works I place a mirror over the face of the cowboy so that the viewer can see their reflection. It forces us to contemplate our relationship with our fathers and aims to suggest that we are a piece of them too, regardless of their shortcomings. Despite what my father lacked, he showed me affection because his father never did so for him. He made it a point to raise his children affectionately and I can respect the fact that he broke a link in the chain. These works encourage us to learn about our fathers history to see if and where they may have broken a link in their lineage as well. The objective is to find forgiveness and see the humanity in all of us. As they say, "the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree". This series of NFT's, "Cowboys from The Crypt" is the digital representation of the above.
