Do you ever consider where what you were made of came from? Matter can never be created nor destroyed. It’s one of the first laws of science that I ever learned about and really remembered. (That and the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell, but we aren’t ready yet to get into that topic. Save it for another day.) Matter can only be transformed from one form to another in our current understanding. And yes, I am sure you have already heard the implications that we are made of stars and that makes you special, yada yada. But we are all made up of stars and that makes none of us special when you consider it. And truly, the earth and everything on this planet is made up of matter that once made up a nebula that had come from something long ago. Our atoms are as ancient as the universe if the theory that matter cannot be created nor destroyed is true. (And I simply call it theory because I don’t believe we can truly know anything.) Even if at one point all we once were, were particles of matter (protons, neutrons, electrons) just freely floating in a cosmic ocean waiting to combine into a new thing, all those particles existed since the creation of everything that we see. And those same particles exist in us. We have been placed on this planet. Our particles, which were as ancient as time, has organized itself in such a way that we are able to experience the universe and remember moments in time. And while our life span is a cosmic second when looking at the grand scale of the universe, we can see a snapshot of matter and how it has formed around us. I think that is more special to consider over the fact that we are made up of stars. We were made to enjoy the stars. We are here to experience the forms that the ancient particles have taken. We can even manipulate them through learning and growth. We are matter controlling matter even if it is on a human scale.
