Floatium is an Aluminum-Helium alloy. It is a floating metal. In a not-so-distant future, it is being recycled and repurposed for the production of air-buoyant sculptures.

Floatium is an alloy produced by the combination of Aluminum and Helium. It has the property of being buoyant in the earth’s atmosphere. Objects built using the aluminum-helium alloy float in the air without the need of propulsion and without spending any energy.

The discovery of Floatium initially led to a revolution in the transportation industry by making flight extremely energy efficient. These innovations eventually spread to the housing industry. Land prices plummeted, city maps became three-dimensional - altitude flippened location.

Alas, the mass adoption of this ground-breaking technology came late in the post-cataclysmic stage of human evolution. This is the overarching theme of Stormae of which Cloud Patina is a creative milestone.

Cloud Patina is a generative series displaying the breadth of variability of recycled Floatium. These metal plates are imagined in the warehouse of a recycling facility ready to be selected and repurposed by sculptors and creators.
